Getting Ready June 2013

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross!”
Philippians 2:5-8

As we prepare for our third trip to Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya, we recall how Christ served while He was here on earth.  He gave and gave of himself to the point of death, only taking time alone to draw strength from His father in heaven.  We pray for divine opportunities to serve the poor.  The world would say, “Be careful; it is unsafe there. How will you physically withstand the work?”  But the Spirit in us says, “Have faith and walk through the open door before you.”  God continues to draw us to Tenwek through our heart felt love for the people and by closing opportunities to other mission hospitals.

There are many prospects for ministry at Tenwek that lay before the Miller family this year.  I (Chase) will be working in the Operating Theater providing much needed ENT care.  We will be bringing medical supplies with us as well as funds to help pay for patient surgeries and hospital care.  I have found in the past that many patients come for surgery but are unable to pay the nominal deposit fee for surgery.  Jimmy will be bringing water filters again that can provide a family with a lifetime of clean water.  The chaplains at Tenwek will help us get into homes through their prayer ministry.

The family will be serving at several orphanages in the surrounding communities.  There the funds will be distributed to help defray the costs for food, clothing and school.  Hunter, Aaron, and Isaiah will be an integral part of reaching out to the orphans and kids at the hospital.

As I look at what is before us, I smile knowing that I am not humanly able but MY GOD IS ABLE!  He will do it and in a way that draws His people to Him.  The joy of the Lord will be our strength and the Spirit will lead us.

We have many prayer requests and needs this year.  Pray for health for the family- some are weak in health but I believe this is such that He will be glorified.  In 2 Corinthians 12:9 it says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Pray that He will prepare good works ahead of us (Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”).  Also, pray for the financial support needed to cover the expenses as well as the many ministries before us.  We have felt the Lord say, “Sell everything and give to the poor.”  We have begun this process and have funds that we carry with us- Praise God.

We greatly desire you to partner with us in this venture.  Your prayers and support will carry us as we serve in this beautiful land.

His servants,

Jimmy, Chase, Hunter, Aaron, and Isaiah Miller
