Take refuge in the Lord

Image
In morning devotions today we meditated on the center verse of the bible.  Psalm 118:8 "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes".  We are to lean on God not any institution or other man.  they will always fail but God is faithful to His word.  He will not let us down.  He has called me to this place and has been faithful to carry me through.  I am so very grateful.  He has made me utterly dependent on Him and has allowed me to enter His rest.  It has been a battle but I am in a completely different place that when I arrived.  Praise God. Today was a busy day in the Operating room.  Human bites are the theme this trip.  We reconstructed a lower lip bite today.  the patient does not know the Lord so much time was spent introducing him to Jesus.  He was scheduled for outpatient surgery but I admitted him overnight so we could have the chaplains come and speak with him also. we operated on an elderly male with metastatic thyroid cancer to the nec

Milking Cow for Kitoben Children's Center

The orphanage has purchased their milking cow!  They are very, very grateful!  Kitoben currently houses 85 children between the ages of 8-23 right now.  Today they received 2 more children, a brother and sister, their grandmother and uncle dropped them off and Samwel told us that they have fit in well and it's only been a couple of days.  The timing, God's timing, for the purchase of the milking cow was perfect, as this place continues to grow! Here are some pictures from today:

Askante Jehovah!

Asante Jehovah!  Thank you God!  The weekend was relatively quiet at Tenwek and we were all grateful for the rest.  Today was a busy day in the OR for ENT.  Jesus and I reconstructed a nasal tip injury.  This young man was assaulted minding his own business he says.  I guess it is not uncommon to have your nose bitten off by assailants.  We cleaned up his wounds 1 week ago and fortunately he has remained infection free.  Today was his big day in the OR.  Praise God all went well.  the second stage of the surgery will be in 1 month to take down the flap and inset the final aspects of the reconstruction. God was faithful to guide us in this complicated reconstruction and we are so grateful this patient will not have to live with the stigmata of a nasal bite.  This morning's devotion was on abiding in HIM.  We are to keep step with the Spirit moving forward in His gentle pace.  This surgery was done 2 days early.  I wonder what the Spirit has waiting for us the rest of the week
