Midweek

Internet connection has been intermittent, electrical power has been on and off because of the drought.  I am unable to add pictures at the present time because of the weak connection.

Today Jimmy led a Devotion time for the physicians and resident staff.  God orchestrated the morning such that I gave a lecture to follow.  We both have felt strongly that part of our role on this trip has been as encouragers to the full time missionary physicians.  I heard the Lord's words of encouragement flow from Jimmy to the physicians.  It was a blessing and I know they were absorbing every word.  My lecture started with additional words of encouragement and teaching based on a patient experience I had had at Tenwek.  The Holy Spirit is our teacher and as physicians how can we possibly believe that we can know everything about our specialty fields.  Physicians can get so absorbed with head knowledge but what we need is knowledge of God and His ways.  We need to be constantly learning from the experiences God put before us.

The pace of this week has been more manageable.  There are many patient's needing help and I struggle as I realize my time is coming to an end.  Many will go untreated.  There is a never ending stream of patient's through the casualty area.  It would be easy to lose compassion for the people when we see so many suffer and pass away.  Babies die daily and patient's pass on into God's glory on the wards without notice until the next day.

Dear Lord, I pray your presence in this place.  That the suffering would end.  That your joy would abound.  That weary workers would see your miraculous healing power.  That you would draw near to this place.  That you would have mercy on us.

2Corinthians4:7  "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.  We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not in abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.  We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.  So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you."
