Take refuge in the Lord

In morning devotions today we meditated on the center verse of the bible.  Psalm 118:8 "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes".  We are to lean on God not any institution or other man.  they will always fail but God is faithful to His word.  He will not let us down.  He has called me to this place and has been faithful to carry me through.  I am so very grateful.  He has made me utterly dependent on Him and has allowed me to enter His rest.  It has been a battle but I am in a completely different place that when I arrived.  Praise God.

Today was a busy day in the Operating room.  Human bites are the theme this trip.  We reconstructed a lower lip bite today.  the patient does not know the Lord so much time was spent introducing him to Jesus.  He was scheduled for outpatient surgery but I admitted him overnight so we could have the chaplains come and speak with him also.

we operated on an elderly male with metastatic thyroid cancer to the neck.  he underwent a total thyroidectomy and neck dissection.  He had a large 6cm mass in his neck.  All went well for him praise the Lord.

We returned to the operating room with the bilateral cleft lip child today.  he has an infection and some wound breakdown.  although this could impact his final result there is a blessing in the end.  the patient has been received and loved on in this place.  a visiting anesthetist and his wife have visited the patient daily and purchased new shoes, school uniform and suit coat for him.  I am praying he will be a "new man" when he leaves this place.

Jimmy and the kids continue to visit the pediatric ward daily.  below is Hunter's favorite girl named faith.  she was severely burned and has been in the hospital since February for wound care and skin grafting to her back.
